It is great to be Welsh, honest

After the appalling Welsh performance against the Italians yesterday I have been in need of some cheering up. This joke posted by Maggi was just what I needed to hear.

if God's a local, how come he cant fix your rugby team?

Errrr... probably for the same reason that suffering exists.

Sort out the rugby team? God deals in miracles not the impossible.(Yes, I know he does really but that wouldn't have worked, okay.)

you gotta take the french down for us mate,
a 30 point victory would do us

After the first line had england in it I refused to read the rest. I bet it was some made up rubbish about wales being better than england.

Ok I've chosen to live here but if I could change one thing it would be flippin welsh pride - you're a small insignificant country - get over it.

Ben Brown - YOU'RE ENGLISH

Jon said...

Luke, we'll do the French as long as you hammer the English. Although shouldn't be very hard for you given their performance on Sunday.

I loved the joke! And v.impressed to see the National Anthem making an appearance on your blog, too.

Woah, Jon, be careful not to cast the first stone at England: Did you know there's a Welsh-speaking area of Patagonia in Argentina? Apparently the settlers also introduced chapels, poetry and welsh tea. You horrendous, oppressive, empire-building scum...

And is that really the Welsh national anthem or is it a list of Blogger word verifications?

Dan, I just want to applaud that comment. Fantastic.

Ben, get over it, you are not welsh, if you are welsh, you also are american (and the george bush variety not the cool variety)

Jon said...

Dan, I apologise. You are not the kind of Englishman I meant to implicate. It was aimed at the nasty oppressive Tim Oakes type. And yes, that is the national anthem, at least the first verse and the cytgan. The last two verses are never sung at sports events (as far as I'm aware anyway).

Jodie, Ben has repented of his heritage and has begun a journey on the road to Welshness. In my books, he is as welsh as Owain Glyndwr.

jodes da princess said...

ben you are 'welsh' because you have lived in wales. therefore you must also be both american and northern having lived in both of these countries (america and the north)

jodes da princess said...

then you cant be welsh, you are 100% loser, having lived in loserville all your life.

Jon said...

Unfortunately not. Years of oppression by my anglo-saxon neighbour has meant that my language and my heritage is lost to me.

Woah! Whats this, Rob and his misses have been demoted to the 'also rans' section of your links. Have you had some sort of bust up or something?

Jon said...

I use my links list to navigate to other people's blogs. I tend to move down from top to bottom. People at the top of the list are the ones I check most often. You haven't posted since mid February, therefore regularly checking you was becoming a royal pain in the ass. I only remove people that I have stopped checking because they never post anything (obviously you don't fall into this camp). Every now and then I reorganise my links list.

My links list is for my personal use. It is not a league table or a reflection on whose blogs i like the most, just a reflection on how often i check.

So there!

jodes da princess said...

nah, I dont buy it. its a league table.

only one question remains then. why is benny at the top?

Jon said...

Rob, yes that is the case. I guess I am therefore more of a chump.

Jon, you may well be more interesting but the list is not based on interestingness. You come in the top eight which are the blogs I check the most. The order of the top eight is purely related to when the blog was set up. Seeing as I spoke to Ben and Rob first about everything, Ben's link appears top of the list.

Bloody hell, I think I might just shift to alphabetical. Then there can be no fuss.

Tim Lovell said...

So thats how you've got so many hits- they're all yours!

And now Jon, its not entirely true about when they were set up, is it. I think its got more to do with instituational racism.

Ever since your inaccurate entry for The 2006 Find a Fascinating Fact Contest, I have been approaching with a healthy amount of skepticism anything you you say. Having investigated your claims that the blogs are set up purely in order of being first set up, I have brought to light some disturbing evidence.

First, the facts: Most blogs were set up in September 2005. The earliest (apart from Jons own, and the now largely useless Rob Hinds') is my own- first post 2:28pm 16.09.05. Next up is Tim Oakes, first post 16.09.05 at an unidentified time. After that, Kiera and Andy Pring set up blogs before Bens- theirs appearing at 6:03am and 10:35am respectively on the 19.06.05, while Bens appeared several hours later at 4:51pm.

These are the facts, and here are some of my thoughts. The strongest link that I could find between Tim, Ben and several other people who find themselves in unnaturally lofty postitions on Jon's list is their nation of residence. Ben, being more Welsh than Tim finds himself at the top, only because of Rob's extreme laziness in posting. Tim follows closely. This is irrefutible evidence of institutional racism found at the very heart of this blog, and must be dealt with swiftly and mercilessly.

You can't argue with the facts Jon.

Dan said...

Yeah, alphabetize The Leaderboard! That could be just the shot in the arm my blog needs to recover from its recent silence.

jodes da princess said...

its a give and take thing dan, if you only post once every 3 months we will reciprocate.

Rob, is 'playground buddies' gay slang?

Jon said...

Tim, your lazy analysis of the facts has proven your downfall, not only in regards to intially awarding me first place in the fact contest (making a mockery of the panel's competence), but also in regards to this blog issue.

With regards to Tim Oakes, his time is unspecified, you simply do not know whether his was set up before yours. In any case, he was the first to email me and tell me about his blog, therefore he is above everyone except Ben and Rob.

Ben Brown's current blog is not his first. He has had other blogs that were never used and set up wrongly. Him and Rob were the first people I emailed back in June (ish) with the idea of using blogs to keep in touch and aid discussion. Although Ben was later than Rob, he did have a blog, and was involved at an earlier stage than any of the others.

So Mr Fact Master, I suggest you take a closer look at the evidence!

Liz Hinds said...

But I post more than anyone so should be TOP! Assuming it's not based on interestingness, as you say.

Jon said...

So there it is. The list is now alphabetical. Hope everyone is satisfied.
