As someone who struggles to pray, I found this to be really helpful. It takes about five minutes and is worth every second. Thanks to Maggi for the link.
Not a bad idea. I tried something similar while I was in Bible College. Found it very useful at the time. Why don't you try getting your hands on rosary beads? I find they work best for me.
i was just about to add 'you can get them in oxfam you know'. Hell we're smug. Oh yeah.
(to cancel it out though, I have to admit I've not got mine yet this year AND I did got a simpsons chocolate advent calender at the end of october. several shades of wrong seeing as I got it in Tesco and I fundementally disagree with ever shopping in Tesco. There is absolutely no hope...)
We would expect nothing less from someone in your position, Miss M.
Jon, would you and your lovely wife like to join the Linden prayer chain? I expect you know how it works - a telephone chain for immediate (and sometimes long-term) prayer requests. If you want to join just say the word to she who holds the power of the rings. (Me. Lady of the Rings.)
No pressure, Jon, it's just that's it's a stimulus to pray and usually a simple prayer is all that is needed. Not too deep because they tend to be 'Help!' prayers.
The only danger is that you do what I do: I get the message, make sure I pass it on then forget to pray! Don't tell anyone that though, will you?!

In the prison, inmates quite often ask the chaplain (c of e) for rosary beads.
How about getting an advent candle for this period of the year and praying while it burns its day's worth?
One step ahead of you Dan, already got one (twenty four numbered tea lights to be exact). One pound from the pound shop, bargain.
Great minds et cetera.
we got a fair trade one - always thinking about others - we are so virtuous

I think that with my history of extreme pyromaniacy, that I should probably stay away from any candle lighting activity. Its just too tempting.
Liz, thanks for the offer. Not sure though. We both struggle with prayer, will chat it over with becky and get back to you.
